Chillllllll….

stressed-outWhen is technology too much? Could you go away on vacation for say 3 days with no internet, cell, berry, iPhone? Are you as out going in real life as you are on FACEBOOK? Are you really as busy as your tweets say you are?

This past weekend I road my bike for the first time since last summer. It was like 12-13 degress. Global warming ain’t that bad. (jks) I hit up Sunnybrook, The Beaches, The Pier, gym, Little Indian and brought some snacks in the ol’ nap sack. At one point I actually forgot that my phone was in my bag until I rested. So I checked it, 2 missed calls, a couple emails. No biggie! I was disappointed that I felt the need to check but my point is I had fun and stayed connected to the real world for a change and I didn’t feel I missed out on anything in the digital world. I even spoke to a few passing strangers at the beach, as I was snacking. Old people of course lol, they love that stuff!

Try it from time to time. It just might make your day.

DJ_Unk_5

When I first read this story on DJ Unk, I just hoped he didn’t pass away. The music biz can be life consuming, with barely any time to eat or sleep healthy. We all go through it, including yours truly. But you must maintain a healthy lifestyle or you will eventually loose. Let’s live healthier, ya’ll.

26 year old DJ Unk real name Anthony Plat of “Walk It Out” fame was rushed to the hospital on Saturday (Aug. 29), after complaining of chest pains. Doctors later confirmed that he suffered a mild heart attack (is any heart attack ever “mild”?). Unk later tweeted “No more Kush, Purp, Piff, Haze, Sour desiel for me! No more drinks! Got to do this for my health,” he wrote. After his jarring experience, the rapper/DJ continued to post several Twitter updates maintaining his dedication to changing his lifestyle, even probing fans for advice on fruits, vitamins and colon cleansers. “No more hot wings, no fried food, no more seafood! Damn what must I eat? (air) and (water) lol .. What’s sum good healthy food anybody?” he wrote. Cont’ reading…

Losing my Appetite…

Check this DOC and you’ll always CHECK THE LABEL!

SPOTLIGHT DOCUMENTARY: FOOD, Inc. Directed by Robert Kenner

I finally had a bit of free time this past weekend to watch the documentary FOOD, Inc. I feel I’m aware of many hazards we faced when eating just about anything these days. But there were definitely a few eye openers. Check the trailor and thank me later!

FOOD, Inc.

In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that’s been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. Food, Inc. reveals surprising — and often shocking truths — about what we eat, how it’s produced, who we have become as a nation and where we are going from here.
